If you are in a car club or know someone who is, you know that's it's not just hobby, it’s a lifestyle. Just ask Jerry Carabay, Vice President of Dangerous-Toys Car and Truck Club.
Dangerous-Toys Car and Truck Club was founded 1990 and consists of 15 members. Brett Grant the President of the club is the only original member. Jerry Carabay is the Vice President.
They've been known to travel up and down the valley and even as far as
Jerry says it definitely takes group effort and year round planning to host a really successful event. Not only do you have to find the location, you also have to book the bands that will be playing at said event. There are many other details to plan out such as entry fees, prizes, getting the proper permits, printing out flyers, placing them. Once you do all that you have phone calls from individuals who are planning on signing up for the contests and want to know about entry fees, what time to get there, directions to the location, etc.
You also have band managers calling to try to get their bands booked for events. Jerry says all bands must try out. It’s very important to book bands that will be well received by the type of crowd their car shows attract.
“The key is knowing your audience,” Jerry adds.
