In an effort to provide an exciting, intense arts educational program, the new Bakersfield Museum of Art Academy will offer in-depth art classes for students ages nine and up.  The Academy is a unique experience in Bakersfield and will focus on a variety of mediums for those with a sincere and strong interest in  visual arts.  Students will experience drawing, painting, photography, film, architecture, graphic design, fashion design, entertainment design, animation and more.

Students may sign up for one month at a time and classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and Saturday noon - 2 p.m.

September – Drawing and Painting. Drawing is the common language of artists and designers of all kinds.  Painting introduces the world of color.  Together, these two disciplines give students the foundation that can transfer to any other form of art or design.

October –Cartooning and Animation. One of our most popular classes shows students how to use their drawing and painting skills to tell stories through images and how to bring those stories to life through motion.

November – Design.
Almost everything in our man-made world is designed.  Our homes, offices, clothes, cars, even our toothbrushes and jewelry are all designed.  This month introduces students to the process and applications of design and how it affects our everyday world.

Call 661-323-7219 to enroll in the Art Academy. Classes subject to minimum enrollment. $190 per student per month.
