You NEVER know what to expect.
It’s ALL about TIMING
This is what I have come to realize at this point.

The pilgrimage to KoRn Konnekt 2007 started in San Luis Obispo, and then ventured through KoRn County before coming in for a landing in Costa Mesa.
Blue skies, puffy white clouds, and an oh-so-fragrant spring air filled with the scent of greenery accented the traffic and smog of Los Angeles proper.
Upon coming to the Ramada Inn, we were pleasantly surprised to find the German Girl. Got The Life. Kickin it at the pool, just soaking in the rays on the other side of the Atlantic.
After a much-awaited meeting, good ol’ Melissa here had to go straight to Newport beach and run into the sea while Erica and Liane froze their asses off and literally ate sand-wiches on the beach. Finally they convinced me that it was time to go and check out the pier.
Following some well-due pimpin’ out, we decided (after much deliberation) that we would, in fact, go to eat at Silvera’s Steakhouse, instead of at Tuna Town. We made the trip to Huntington Beach and went to take a look at Tuna Town. Of course, the glass and chrome housed flat screen monitor out front on which was playing live KoRn was our first stop. In fact, I do not even think that we made it into the restaurant right then. We just stood, looking at the guys and taking it all in. That’s when it hit us. We needed some MEAT.
So let me ask you this…where would you go if you wanted some meat? We highly suggest Silvera’s if you are in the area. The façade of the building is elegant yet swanky at first glance. Modern architecture with elements of brick and wrought iron grace the building, and tropical plants in marble planters sit on either side of the huge double doors at the top of the entry stairs. Another set of stairs leads into what is one of the most tastefully and beautifully done eating establishments which I have ever had the pleasure of being a guest at. Touches of mahogany and leather emanate the room, enhanced with geometrically shaped oil paintings of various drinks done in rich hues of royal blue, burgundy, goldenrod, and royal purple. The tastefully done tables were set in black and khaki linen, and topped with one red-orange catteleya orchid afloat in a square glass lined with black rock. Such eye candy.
When we first arrived, we were not certain what we would order, so we asked to check out the menu (leather, with a chrome logo). The maitre d asked us if we liked steak and why we had chosen to come to Silvera’s. We went on to explain (if our pimp't out clothes had not done so already) that the real reason that we were there was because of David, and KoRn, of course! After we told him that, he proceeded to sit us atop woven black leather bench seats. A red and orange speckled blown glass lampshade shone down on a truly excellent martini list. We started with a bloody bull, a key lime, and a Catalina coral (complete with pop rocks). I think that every waiter in the restaurant came by and asked us about KoRn or at least said hello. The maitre d came back and told us that David came in every night and that he would call him and tell him we wanted to meet him. We smiled, said that would be awesome, but kept reality in check.

With that in the back of our mind, it was on to the main course. Spinach salad, rack of lamb, chicken breast, garlic potatoes, asparagus, and fresh baked bread was on the table. Like the drinks, we shared it all around. The food was expertly prepared and flavorful to the max! We just had to follow it up with another round of dessert drinks, especially with all the teasing about David that had been going on. Thereafter, we even had flan and berry covered cheesecake. We were almost ready to go. Timing. But the real dessert was yet to come.
A sudden breeze picked up. The lights grew dim. And then Mr. Silveria, the boss, came walking up, looking as perfect as a picture. Jeans, grey t-shirt, pimp’t out watch, and an oh-so-David glow was about him. He was most kind, and smiled, asking us how our food was. He said “did you eat it ALL already”, and laughed. He wanted to know where we were from. Of course, I said, “SLO”, Liane said “Hamburg”, and Erica said “Bakersfield, have you heard of it?”. And that was worth another laugh out of him. He asked what brought us to town and we told him that we were there to see a concert. When asked which one, we said, ummmmmm KORN! He said, “oh yeah, they are doin' that thing tomorrow night, aren’t they?”. Then he went back to his business meeting but not before shaking our hands and giving us the warmest welcome any of us had ever had.
Well after that, you guessed it, we needed another drink. Tuna Town was on the menu. We headed over there and checked out the sleek, stainless-steel and glass clad décor, with color changing lights in both the dividers and jellyfish tank which let the hue of the room melt slowly from a green to a purple, to a blue, and then back to green. The entire restaurant was adorned with signed band memorabilia. It was like Hard Rock but a million times better. KoRn memorabilia to make you drool….everywhere! The feel of Tuna Town was definitely more club like and not as elegant, but definitely a must see. The drinks were bomb-especially the “bomb pop”!
Thus ended Thursday…you thought that was the whole story? Keep reading, lazy fuka. It gets even better.
Friday dawned…a whole new day. Time to go to the salon. Pimp’d out to the max for a VERY special KoRn show at the Kodak Theater at Hollywood and Highland. After much pimpin out, we returned to the hotel to find some of the loveliest friends had arrived! We were so stoked to see everyone who had traveled from afar, old friends and new. We just wanted to kick it and it was sad to drive away and leave them all there…wishing that they could go too. If only.
But we had to go. Hell, we worked in Watts for the pleasure of it! So, Melissa, Erica, and Liane, were mobbin’ down the freeway to Hollywood. Shopping for lots of KoRn goodies at all the freaky little shops. Eating pizza. Coming to the complex just in time to meet Sarah coming down the elevator. Timing.
Then to the show! The Kodak Theatre is an extravaganza for the senses. It has a five story spiraling staircase, with full bars at every level.  The reality of it is hard to explain…there are lots of box seats, three balconies, and a stage that has stars on the floor and looks like it is framed in a ring of carved marble. The lighting ballasts are amazing and look more like art than anything else. The acoustics are DEAD sexy.
Before KoRn came out, we stole away form our seats in the 3rd nosebleed balcony and met Liane in the 2nd balcony, we got dead center front row! Then this dude from Wild’n Out came over and sat between Erica and I. Timing. The director (who was setting up to film him there) saw Erica and I with twin KoRn banners and insisted that we stand on either side of him and hold them high for the world to see! Then came the best part…KoRn took the stage!
Six Japanese drummers all in red-four on each side and two dead center top middle-caught the eye as the band ripped right into “Did My Time”. Pure energy is the best explanation that I can offer. The whole presentation was absolutely gorgeous. Warm hues-red and orange-lit up the stage which had two complete drum sets, six Japanese drummers, and Jonathan, Munky, and Fieldy. Next up was a powerful version of throw me away with hair-raising acoustics which circled the entire building over and over. Coming Undone shook the fillings out of all our teeth, even with one-fourth of the speakers as at the Bako arena. Last but not least was Blind! The two drummers in the center and back were beating the crap out of a huge drum while standing behind a metal-mesh screen upon which was projected flames and also graphics of the boy from the SYOTOS art which was shown during Blind at the Family Values Tour. Black confetti covered the whole seating area three inches deep! Some drama went on in the front rows and I know that KoRn was going to come out for an encore but was disallowed. Stupid assholes ruin shit sometimes.
Whew. We had to drive back to Costa Mesa after that. I got on the freeway going to Ventura!!!! Good thing Sarah got me goin' back south. But, yea, TIMING. When we were finally headed in the right direction, we saw traffic coming to a stop ahead of us. Apparently, there had been an accident. We pulled up to a stop beside a black Mazzarati without plates, and I just glanced over. Then I lost my marbles…literally, I went retarded. I screamed like a lil bitch….OH MY GOD ITS MUNKY” as he just looked over, laughed, and waved. I know that he had to be looking at all of our expertly done KoRn car window art. He said, “I’m on my phone”, but still gave us a look every now and again.
Now you know we had to spark a phat bowl. Liane’s over here snappin' pix and video, we are hella blowin' ganja. Finally we got moving again. Then came a high speed game of cat and mouse on the 405 all the way from LA proper to the Costa Mesa turnoff. The best car chase I have ever been in, and definitely more fun when the right people are involved. Two cars of KoRn girls and one Munky sandwich. Yummm. Good times.
Needless to say, when we got back to the hotel, we had to fill in all of those who were not able to make it to the show. Fun was had drinkin', partyin', and carrying on. I was in tears when Erica and Sarah brought me a birthday cake with a SWEET picture of Jonathan right on top! Ahhh what great friends. They gave me just what I wanted for my birthday!
Saturday morning rolled around and we rolled our ass out to the pool for some serious sun tannin’ to KoRn on the radio. Kik’n it in the pool and just smiling…really big. A fun ass trip down to Newport had me along with Erica, Liane, Jonathan, and Shelly, posing with a big red macaw in various compromising positions.
Then we went “clubbin”. Hehe. I just had to say it once. The Roc in Costa Mesa is owned by Chief, a friend of KoRn, and a huge motorcycle officiando. He had his very own signed and framed KoRn goodies outside the main door as we entered! A row of badass bikes lined the front of the club inside which the hugest KoRn fans from all over the world met and partied. The drinks were pouring, KoRn was bumping, and everyone was happy…and a little drunk! In between the live bands was an infinite variety of all of our favorite KoRn songs on the spin. Anna Nicole’s (Tequila Rose + Hot 100 Schnapps), Jack and Coke, Vodka-cran, and our very own creation, ADIDAS, were on the menu. I think that there will never be such a great crowd kicking it till the next Konnekt. No drama! KoRn fans happy n that’s all.

The weekend ended on a lovely note with the moral of the story being as above:
Timing is everything.
