World-renowned underground hip-hop crews to make a stop at The Dome on Oct. 5!

To many people, hip-hop is a form of music causing significant controversy over lyrics that are perceived as promoting violence, promiscuity, and drug use.
Not according to independent hip-hop artist Grayskul.

(Grayskul)
“Hip-hop is away of being original, reaping your own style, being independent, not having to take on a role through a major record label,” said the MC of the urban art form that has certainly taken its share of potshots in the media.
In addition to Grayskul, MCs Onry Ozzborn and JFK are some of many acts to hit the stage on the Everybody Loves a Clown tour coming to B-town’s The Dome for an all-ages show on Oct.5, at 7:30pm.
With their new album “Bloody Radio” off the Minneapolis-based record label Rhymesayers, you get the feeling they’re a bit dark, mystical and haunting. But really it’s just a bunch of “dope-ass music” said JFK.
JFK’s new single “Scarecrow” is sure to turn a lot of heads with its dope beat and the group’s signature double time style of flows. I give it five mics!!
Asked to describe what to expect at the upcoming Bakersfield show, the lyricist answered with a reply worthy of a show marquee.
“…A bunch of rappin’ in your face. In fact, we’re gonna melt in your face,” they said.
Also on the bill is Kansas City MC Mac Lethal who labels himself as a “commercial whore” and a “warrior of love.” Lethal compares himself to the Olive Garden.
(Mac Lethal)
“I’m like the appetizer, all-you-can-eat breadsticks, and salad before your meal,” described Lethal.
So how is it that a “white rapper” - who claims to not like to rap, dislikes movies, is not about money or fame, but likes peanut butter - gets everything he doesn’t like after sending a four-song demo tape (yes a tape, not CD) to an address on the back of a label mate’s, “Los Nativos” album?
It may have been a stroke of luck getting the hook up after that fateful mailing, but to hear Mac Lethal spit his questionable commentary - hip-hop is just a genre of music that was made up by “corporate America.”
On his Rhymesayers label debut album “11:11,” the Kansas City MC gets his chance to say whatever he wants, but warns listeners to not expect any originality.
“Nobody is original anymore, there’s no such thing,” said Lethal. “Everybody is influenced by each other. Styles are stolen. The only thing that makes me different is that one of my ears is bigger than the other.”
Don’t be confused with the title of lead single “Makeout Bandit,” off “11:11.”
According to Lethal, the catchy tune and hook is a marketing scheme with a cute title about the war in Iraq.
“I’m a warrior of love, we need to spread love,” he said.
Headlining the tour is Minneapolis based hip-hop group Atmosphere - also the owners of the Rhymesayers record label, who are sure to pack a crowd.

With sold out shows at such venues as the Fillmore in S.F., the Henry Fonda Theatre in L.A., performances at Coachella and now being added to the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas alongside Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, and Public Enemy, Atmosphere has put their mark on independent hip-hop.
Be sure to get Grayskul’s new album “Bloody Radio” in stores, also on Oct. 9, Mac Lethal’s new CD “11:11,” or one of Atmosphere’s five albums all in stores now.
