Bakersfield Community Theatre is proud to bring the hit of the 2006 Oregon Shakespeare Festival to the stage. Up by Bridget Carpenter tells the story of Walter Griffin, a man who literally flew in a device he built but whose life has been on a downward spiral ever since.

Director Enrique Acosta (Spider Baby the Musical, the True Tales series) says “It’s the hardest I’ve ever worked on a piece. The tragic lives of these characters and they’re problems in communicating with each other reminds me a little of Death of a Salesman. It’s definitely the most serious and difficult piece I’ve ever directed.”

Producer/actor fRed put in her two cents “I know the piece is a little challenging but we’re trying to show that we can not only produce serious plays in Bakersfield but that people will come out and see them.”

The cast includes David Jackson, Helen Acosta, Joy Wheat, Kenny Hugo, Andrew Hood, and kathryn (fRed) burnett.

UP runs from January 18th – Feb. 2nd
-Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm
-One matinee on January 20th and 27th at 2pm
