March Madness begins Bako!

Drive south on Chester, past downtown, past 178, past Ming and, if you pay attention you might notice Bakersfield Community Theatre on your left just before you hit Wilson.  We’ve been in the same location since 1961 but we've been described as "The best kept secret in Bakersfield".  On March 1^st get in on the secret.  Come join in the fun from 8pm until well after midnight. 

At 8pm we’ve got Daddy’s Dyin’ Whose Got the Will directed by Michael Pulowski.  Pulowski has set this trashy down-home comedy in Oildale.  I’ve seen parts of a few rehearsals and this talented cast made me do a spit take (Yes, the soda came flying right out of my nose!).  On March 1^st come dressed up for the show for a chance to win some truly trashy prizes in the intermission "White Trash" costume contest!

At 10pm we will have a Costume Party/ Reception for the Art Show that accompanies Daddy’s Dyin’ called “Garbage Blanc: A Celebration of All Things White Trash.”  The party is free and we’ll have food, art, actors, artists and a cash bar to raise money for the theatre.

At Midnight don’t worry about going home tipsy—stay for the midnight movie with the Bakersfield Alternative Movie Society (BAMS).  This month’s offering is a concert film with one of the greatest underground acts of our time: The Dresden Dolls Live at Paradise.  The Dresden Dolls are Amanda Palmer at Piano and Brian Viglione on drums.  Together they are the force of nature that originated the “punk cabaret” sound that is sweeping clubs across the nation.
