ELEEMOSYNARY
By Lee Blessing
Directed by Brian J. Sivesind

February 29 and March 1 at 11:00pm, March 7 and 8 at 8:00pm,
& March 2nd at 4:00pm

This play probes into the delicate relationship of three singular women: the grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence through strong-willed eccentricity; her brilliant daughter, Artie (Artemis), who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and Artie’s daughter, Echo, a child of exceptional intellect - and sensitivity - whom Artie has abandoned to an upbringing by Dorothea. As the play begins, Dorothea has suffered a stroke, and while Echo has reestablished contact with her mother, it is only through extended phone conversations, during which real issues are skirted and their talk is mostly about the precocious Echo’s single-minded domination of a national spelling bee contest. But, in the end, after Dorothea’s death, both Artie and Echo come to accept their mutual need and summon the courage to try, at last, to build a life together - despite the risks and terrors that this holds for both of them after so many years of alienation and estrangement.

“… an engrossing entry - alternately funny and poignant…” - Variety

Dorothea: Julie Jordan-Scott
Artie: Jennifer Sampson
Echo: Samantha Gonzales

It is a cool word to say, Matt. When I first started to work on the show I would say, "It is a great script... its name starts with an E"... LOL

It is a cool word to say! And there are tons of other (cooler, in my opinion) words in the show... "logodaedaly" is a good one! Julie, I would've had no idea how to pronounce the title if Brian didn't say it out loud when he originally told me about the script :D
