Atomic Kitten’s Vavavavoom!
Local salon brings the classic looks of yesteryear back for the pin-up gals of today
The owners derived their sense of fashion and style from a variety of influences.
Stylist Ramona Potts, said she uses her expertise as a makeup artist for Bakersfield’s Halloween haunt Chamber of Chills to create the dramatic and glamorous air-brush effects for photo shoots and fashion shows. Hoffman, a veteran of the hot-rod and car culture of Bakersfield, let the concept for the salon evolve from that scene.
“I remember looking at the hairstyles and thinking how cool it would be to offer those unique, classic styles right there at the event,” said Hoffman.
Hoffman also frequently takes her skills on the road.
After a successful turn providing $20 up-dos to ladies at the March Meets, the girls from Atomic Kitten will be on hand for Rod & Kulture’s Dragfest at Famoso Raceway, May 3 and 4, providing pin-up hairstyles, color extension strands and airbrushed temporary tattoos and makeup.
By combining those classic styles with modern looks of today, their team of stylists have found themselves within a very sought-after niche market.
So if your beehive is all out of honey, take a cruise over to Atomic Kitten and let the gals soup up your do!
