It’s been a great first year of Bakotopia magazine, and I couldn’t be more proud of the great work we’ve accomplished as team - that includes YOU!

Thinking back to the first round of initial cubicle discussions about concepts for the new magazine last year, one idea sticks out the strongest: “Let the reader take the wheel.”
Since our first issue hit streets on May 4, 2007, that’s exactly what we’ve claimed as our strong point - letting the reader drive.

Stopping by my office, you’ll most likely find me on the phone or answering e-mails. I like to be available when I get a question from a community writer or newly registered Bakotopia.com user. No question is too crazy, trust me - I appreciate them all, and no one bugs me.

The whole process of putting a magazine together has been a learning experience, and the talent this city is packed with is overwhelming.

There’s not enough room to list all the great regular contributors who’ve been “driving” the Bakotopiamobile every issue, but I can tell you that they come from all walks of life, most with no journalism background whatsoever.

Musicians, students, actors, artists, and just good local people who want to make our city a happening place. If you’d like to contribute, too, by all means, just start writing!
We’re definitely not resting on our laurels with this issue - there’s always more work to do. Bakotopia has big plans for expansion through 2008, and we add more free racks every week - keeping issues free to the public thanks to our great advertisers who feel Bakotopia readers are the people to reach.

The Bakotopia office creative crew also deserves a round of applause for making each issue eye appealing with cool graphics, and making changes as needed during crunch time. They’re amazing!

So, on that note I hope to see all of you at Chuy’s SW on May 3rd at 5 p.m. for a big THANK YOU bash for all your love and support! Time for a rager!
