Video gaming news from Bakotopialand's resident expert - INAUGURAL EDITION!
By Gamestor Gil, Bakotopia.com contributor
It all began in 1977, this was the year that gave us “Saturday Night Fever,” “Star Wars,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and, unfortunately, it was the year Elvis Presley died (or did he?).
But what I remembered most, of 1977, was when my dad swung open the front door and hollered “look what I have!” Immediately, my eyes and mouth matched the wide open front door. You see, it was a brand new Atari 2600 with a cartridge of this little unknown game called “Pac-Man.” This was the defining moment of my video game career. This was when “Gamestor Gil” came into existence.
I am both honored and excited about my first inaugural column in Bakotopia magazine.
The purpose of this article is to educate, inform and entertain you regarding the “world of video games.” Since I specialize in the video game console business (PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and “old school” video games) I will stick to this genre.
According to the Entertainment Software Association (www.theesa.com), 69 percent of American heads of the household play computer/video games. Sixty-two percent of American video game players are male and 38 percent are female. The average age of American video game players is 33. In plain English - we play a heck of a lot of video games!
In this issue, I want to focus on what you can look forward to for the next two weeks on some of the most popular game releases with a shortened list:
