Restaurant Review: Great Central Steak N' Hoagie
Local restaurant proves to be a gem

You’d hardly know it was there.
Cozied up next to a Starbucks, nutrition store, and Hot Hedz salon, the Great Central Steak N’ Hogie in the In Shape City shopping center on White Lane and New Stine is an unassuming little establishment.
I have been disappointed by my attempts to familiarize myself with the lesser-known food joints in town, but with these guys I’ve been surprised and re-instilled with a sense of hope.
Much like penicillin, my discovering Steak N’ Hogie was an accident that proved to be a gift. My first time in I decided to go with their Philly Cheesesteak: bell peppers and onions, cheese, marinara sauce (I take mine on the side to dip) and, of course - the steak.
This all on delicious, locally baked bread. The seasoned French fries I paired with it made for a perfect post-hogie wind down.
I left that day a changed man.
If you aren’t in the mood for a hogie, you can always opt for the chicken salad, which, made with all local produce, you won’t be disappointed with.
Not only is the food great, but owners Alex and Paul are great too. And the photos of patrons all along the wall share with customers a sense of community. So make sure to get there quick, because their food goes fast!
The Great Central Steak N’ Hoagie is located at 4701 White Lane in the Don Perico’s parking lot. (closed Sundays)661-833-1289.
