The Republican political party has refused to address the domestic issues we Americans have come to face

It’s about 12 minutes and 45 seconds until vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin appears in front of America during the Republican National Convention.
But before she begins I start to interpret the ever-so-childish methods of the Republican party as I listen to former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani continuously cheap-shot Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
At one point, he appears to have been misinformed about his fellow Republican vice-presidential nominee as he refers to her as the mayor of Alaska, then correcting himself immediately after doing so.
“From being president of the United States, it’s not good enough to be present. You have to make a decision!” said Guliani to a standing ovation.
In another instance, a member of the audience yelled, “You’re wrong!” as he referred to Barack Obama as an inexperienced candidate, unable to make political decisions.
In my opinion the Republican political party has refused to address the domestic issues we Americans have come to face.
It seems as though the Republicans’ primary focus for this election is (and not surprisingly so) our military defense against foreign attacks.
Sept. 11, 2001 is a day we will never forget, but we fail to recognize that we have yet to capture the one terrorist President Bush vowed to go after. Instead a personal agenda was prioritized when our troops marched through the streets of Baghdad and took control of an “eminent threat.”
We must ask ourselves again, where are the weapons of mass destruction we were looking for? Or was this another excuse to fool the people of this great country in order to prioritize a personal vendetta? The focus has been shifted from the war on terror, in Afghanistan, to the liberation of a people, in Iraq. As former Vice President Al Gore agrees, it is time for a change in the White House because “after they abandoned the search for the terrorists who attacked us and re-deploy the troops to invade a nation that did not attack us.”
According to Governor Palin, John McCain is “a leader who’s not looking for a fight, but he sure isn’t afraid of one either.” I must disagree, as a fighter and
potential leader of this nation you must fight for your people and not against them. You must show the people that you have what it takes to repair homeland issues such as our economy. Yes, we must protect ourselves against those who despise our ways of freedom, but an exit strategy must be within your plan.
We continue to bear the costs of the war on terror, yet we fail to complete the mission.
The convention was undeniably a direct “low-blow” attack at Barack Obama, and instead of keeping the ball in the field we were faced with dirty tricks, as usual of the GOP, with personal insults and bitter sarcasm towards Democrats. As the ol’ sayin’ goes: “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” and immaturity and cheap tricks has always been a tool of the GOP. Remember the 2004 election and the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth?
The results of that election were unfortunately similar to the 2000 election as well, and if Republicans cannot strategically capitalize on truth and facts, then like Al Gore said, “I believe in recycling, but that’s ridiculous” to endure another Republican term with John McCain as Commander-in-Chief.
Why must we endure another term of Republican power?
We must take back this country because enough is enough. We must not only continue to fight for the war on terror and return our troops home, but we must complete this mission with a wise government. We can no longer accept failure, and we cannot continue to overlook the issues that are important to each and every one of us. Democrats have taken control over the House and Senate, and this is an opportunity that we must now unite to control our nation, the United States of America.
Let’s make this choice a wise choice, a choice for change.
Barack Obama
