Artist on the move - Holly Gomez invites you to join her throughout October

Holly Gomez is falling fearlessly into fall - head first that is - with a lineup of events sure to inspire and captivate audiences across the board.

This singer/songwriter, actress, activist is very passionate. Not only about entertaining, but about raising awareness.

Something you might not know about Holly: She’s an advocate and volunteer for Alliance Against Family Violence And Sexual Assault. October is national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and there will be weekly events held on the CSUB campus. Show your support by wearing purple ribbons and tying purple ribbons around trees. Holly will be performing at Open Mic Night on Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the CSUB Student Union. Everyone is welcome! Bring a poem you would like to recite, or a song you would like to sing in honor of victims of domestic violence. Join us as we “Bring VOLUME to silent voices,” and help in the fight against domestic violence.

You can also catch Holly at this year’s Burn The Witch, performing live music during the show, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m. It’s gonna be hot!

And lastly - don’t miss Holly in Spotlight Theatre’s off-Broadway production of “High Fidelity.” If you never see a play again this year, see this one! I’m sure you all remember the movie with John Cusack and Jack Black - hilarious! “High Fidelity” is based on the best-selling book by Nick Hornby, and later became the funniest musical to hit Broadway.

“High Fidelity” is filled with tons of pop-rock music and culture. It’s a musical for the music lover. The story follows Rob, a 30-something record store owner, and the wacky clerks who “work” there - as well as lessons in life, love, and past relationships.

“High Fidelity” the musical will be playing Oct. 10 through Nov. 1, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at The Spotlight Theatre, 1622 19th St. For more information, call 634-0692.
