Ventures of the Heart
He was just a little boy going into town
The world was spinning so fast he fell down
“Get off the floor,” he heard a voice say
“This is only the beginning of a very long day”
He scraped the dirt off his already dirty pants
He looked around knowing he only had one chance
There was no time to waste
If he was going to make it, he must make haste
He looked around for help, but of it there was no trace
He had a dollar in his pocket and a dream he was trying to chase
If only he could he see
Something to help guide him
A sign of some sort
To tell him which way to go
Later in day, it was hunger which he felt
There were no more holes to help, tighten up his belt
The sun was scorching hot
His feet, they hurt a lot
He needed a place to rest and stop
He made it to a little booth with a pretty girl
Who gave him something to eat and took him for a whirl
All of a sudden he found
He was flouting on a cloud
For him to stay much longer, she did persist
Her mesmerizing beauty he couldn’t resist
As if hypnotized he stayed
Next to her side for days
Nothing could snap him out of this ever changing craze
So his day of rest turned into weeks
Before you knew it she was something he must keep
A way to impress her was what he tried to find
Even if it meant leaving his dream a bit behind
Then on one very mediocre day
He awoke and felt the heat from the sun’s ray
He had very normal things to do
They must be done in a hurry too
He worked long hours in the heat
And after the sun would set, his girl he would meet
He looked into her eyes and knew all the suffering would be worth while
All he wanted was to see that beautiful smile

Meanwhile, in another realm…
On a very usual day
An entity awoke, in a very usual way
It went to work, no time for play
And went to sleep on time each day.
Too many things needed to be done
Before allowed any time for fun
Yet it lived happily and hopeful
That someday it would be boundless
And its future measured would be priceless,
Its accomplishments, countless
But for now it was simply restless
It was eager to find
A place in the world of any kind
That would be more that just mediocre
Would mean a little more than just work for
A living that could live up to its ambition
And could keep up with its mental vision
Yet for now it must simply wait
For someone to relieve him of his fate
Something too hard to explain
Yet here it must remain
Until it was found, and help was unbound
However, many days went by and still remained unfound
Ages past of times gone by, there it was without a sound
No one around to hear it cry
About the failure of its life gone by
The days got cold and the nights were long
Reminiscing of all the times gone wrong
Yet here it lay
Still hopeful, maybe one day
Its destiny would be fulfilled
In a very special way
It bowed its head,
No longer happy, but sad instead
Getting weaker each minute that went by
Nothing that would help, even if it tried

Back to the boy who in his mind
Knew his dream he must soon find
Time was running out and he was getting old
His life ahead this girl has told
To hold him back and stay with her
And live a life of mediocre
He knew a decision must be made
To work out in the sun or find some shade
Even if it meant a search of extravagant measure
And leave the girl which he so treasured
In his mind
It was too easy to stay behind
Since this life was already set
And leave a dream he never met
Should he choose a life
Which was outlined
Or go pursue a mystery,
An un-detailed venture
And make a bit of history…?
It was too hard to leave his life behind
And so he stayed and it remained
On how he lived his life.
*****************************
With a larger bit of hope
Knowing the time had come
When its life would decided
It got through the day a bit excited
But when the moment of truth came
He knew it would never be same
Because the decision had been made
It would no longer live…
But die instead!!!
All it was, was a dream once dreamt
Which was pursued but then was left.
And here it laid so sad and wept
Of all the things that could have been.
