BEWARE! Pedophiles with Cameras

Megans Law

Some pedophiles are not registered, or have ever been caught.  It's up to us to protect.

AOL news has posted this article:

"Jack McClellan, 45, who calls himself a pedophile but says he has never sexually touched a child, has created Web sites in Seattle and Los Angeles detailing how and where he trolls for children."
..........
What I have to say
As a photographer it is a concern of mine that photos of any person be given permission before I post online.  It is a major concern, as a parent that photos are not being taken of my children without my concent.  That said, after reading this article I am seriously concidering making all photos of my children private, or delete them all together.  A child, for the most part is helpless and nieve.  Parent's have enough stress and worry each day that it is just rediculous that this has to be added to our worries in the digital media age.
Last week, I recieved a message from a fellow Flickr member who ask if I would like to join a SAFE group for parents to share photos of their children.  I checked out the group and did not join.  I had found that a man who had primarily photos of young boys at the park, was the administrator.  I mentioned to the member who invited me that I didn't feel comfortable with the group.  A few days later, I recieved another message:  "Please do not join!  The Admin for this group is a self proclaimed pedophile!".
Boy was glad I do my research before joining and posting photos!
Please be advised, a nice camera does not warrent a nice person.  Ask questions if you see someone taking photos of children.  Do your homework before posting to the web.  Keep our children safe!  Reporting suspiscious behavior doesn't solve the problem.  Making it personal and taking precautions can help to discourage this type of behavior.  Don't simply run this person out of town as was done to Jack McClellan.  He only recently changed his name and has moved to our neck of the woods here in California, saying, "...there are so many world-class children's attractions here, Disneyland, festivals and whatnot."

Also,  there is a website that allows you to view Registerd Sex offenders here in California:

Yeah it's everywhere in just about every family like and ugly secret,..don't let it be a secret, that person maybe your family , but they hurt children. I also think plain good old fashioned watching you kids beats  the need to torture  these people more than they already are by seeing them on the internet.

Most children who are molested are molested by people close to them. Keep that in mind as well. I heard a comedian joke the other day about how EVERY family has the "drunk" uncle and the "funny" uncle. And I just think to myself how true is that, really? Probably more true than we'd like to think about or admit.

I think that it should be easier to find pictures of wanted pedophiles on the internet. I think the best way to keep your babies from being disrespected is to keep their pictures out of the internet. I mean No pictures of children should be allowed. If you want to show off your baby why not send your pics to your friends privately and only to those you really trust.

Because of the fabricated e-mail and identity situation, I keep a close eye on stuff like that. It's easy to hide out on MySpace if you're a big ol' perve pedo, but not on Bakotopia. I will hunt you down!!!!

Thank you WoofWoof for the info on FBI Profiler John Douglas' book Mind Hunter.  We should all check that out.

There has been talk about pedophiles creating false named myspace accounts.  For that matter, you don't even need a name.  Just a fabrictated email account and you don't need a name there either, initials will do for either account.  Point is, the internet isn't anymore safe than walking down the street.  We all have to be careful and keep a watchful eye.  Taking precaution, keeping ourselves and children with at least one other person most of the time, and researching even our nicest neighbors on the Megans Law webside (sad to say), will hopefully add to safety if not peace of mind.

I am tired of hearing about criminals/potential criminals waving around about their right to privacy.  If they wanted privacy, they shouldn't have done (or had thoughts of) anything to have to worry about it.   Innocent everyday people and their children have the right to their privacy, too.

My space has been deleting  profiles left and right of pedophiles. BUT that doesn't mean they wont come back. Who is to say they will not make a fake profile under a different name? They only caught the ones using their REAL names. Its almost 200,000,000 profiles and how many are pedophiles ? Who knows unless you have a team going through EVERY profile?
The key is keep your eyes ON your kids,,
There is a book written by John Douglas and it's called Mind Hunter and he was an FBI profiler and he talks about some of the things to look for when your out and about in life. Things that we should keep an eye out for when looking for Pedophiles.
I am glad that the word is getting out in so many ways!  We just can't let it down.
I watched "To catch a predator" yesterday or the day before. That's some freaky stuff. Megan's Law website lists more people than you can imagine, and those are only the registered sex offenders!

And then there's the convicted predator I caught using myspace last week. We did a story on ABC23. I noticed his profile is still up!

The photo is from his myspace where he is on kids' playground toys.
Really creepy!  lol  I've never seen that on MSNBC...I'll check it out.
He looks so creeepy!! I wonder if he's ever been on To Catch A Predator on MSNBC??
