Bakersfield's La Llorona is she real?Do You Know Who She IS? GEPRS Wants To Know

THE LEGEND OF LA LLORONA
The infamous 'Lady in White' story is one of the most famous ghost stories, re-worked and re-told by generations.

By GEPRS, Bakotopia.com Contributor

There are many known stories and versions of this "wailing" or "crying" female ghost all over the world.

La Llorona..

She was, in most stories, a beautiful Spanish woman, well known and respected in her community. She was also a mother and had children from a previous marriage.

Over the years she becomes increasingly lonely for no one wanted her companionship, let alone marry her as long as she had children in tow.

As the story goes on, the woman falls in love with a wealthy man that did not want children. In desperation she drowned her children in the river {or pond, or lake, or whatever body of water} that was near her village. After the deed is done the man decides to marry another woman. La Llorona realizes that now she will be completely alone and some say out of remorse for what she has done. And therefore she commits suicide.

Thus committing two sins per her religious beliefs...

Her tormented restless spirit walks abroad at night, crying out :

"¡Ay mis hijos!" (O my children!)

Or she will ask you "Has visto a mis hijos?" (Have you seen my children?)

She cannot rest because of her sins, and is forced to eternally roam the world in search of her lost children, carrying a hatred for what has happened to her. She is bent on revenge and will coax people to come near her with her beauty - especially little children.

If you fall into her grasp, she will transform herself into an old ugly hag and drown you in the closest body of water.

Some say this story was told to ensure that children would come home before it got late at night or to stay away from the river or water unattended.

Another version says that even one look at her, or by the mere mention of her name you could be cursed.

How many times have you said her name out loud?

Could the famous White Lady of Central Park in downtown Bakersfield be La Llorona!? After all, there is a canal in the park, and La Llorona is often seen near bodies of water.

If you feel sorry for her and attempt to help her find her children, BEWARE!

Now on that pleasant note, here is a yummy drink that will hopefully ward off the curse of La Llorona...

La Llorona-Broken Heart Margarita

Ingredients:
1 oz lime juice or fresh lime
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz tequila (NO cheap stuff!)
-crushed ice
-sea salt or kosher salt
-Cherries and sliced lime
-Start with squeeze of lime - then place all ingredients in a shaker.
-Shake lively. Saying a prayer of protection 13 times (Hey it can't hurt, right?)

Place a single cherry in the glass. This represents La Llorona's broken heart. Garnish with lime if desired.

Pour in glasses with salt on the rim, or throw a pinch of salt over your shoulder for good luck. Then ask that La Llorona stay away from you - In a nice way of course.

**Remember to drink responsibly! You may run into La Llorona in a downtown bar and wake up with her the next morning! Ay Chingao!

Ask Carlos Mencia haha ;) Great bit on his show. Man that lady gets around 7th standard, in Lamont  out like  around the back roads, hmm where else,..in texas, um wait wait,..there's another oh by hart park.

I want to know more about the white lady of 7th standard road.  Is there anybody who knows more about that?

Annie L,

We do go in Scientifically . But with an Open Mind.

We like to do historical research on a location

and get all the facts we can. We take in equipment

of various types. Recording for EVP, Video, EMF Meters,

Etc.

We go over our data before we make any claims

or come to any conclusions.

We do believe in the concept of sensitivity and Psychics.

Which we work with a couple people that are very

good at this. As I said we are a group that pretty much

keep an open mind to all aspects of this field of study.

Now as far as {if you are talking about} Standard Middle School?

I have heard reports of hauntings there but we have not

investigated  or studied the history of the area or the building.

Have you had some experiences there?

Let us know and if we can make the right connections

we may be able to Investigate or at least get some

information on it. :)

Let us know

Thanks

 Tam =GEPRS

Which one? The old one in Bakersfield musem? I wanted to take Thai Chai  at that one when they had classes.

Do you guys go into a situation to prove or disprove a haunting?

I was wondering if you might have any info about standard schools auditorium?

I'm all for Art to move on and remember her. But the speed in which he met/and he remarried was alarming to me. plus i could hear in his voice he was very sad but i think desperation took over. he talked of Ramona as being one that took care of everything for him. I wonder if he was so lonley  he met this girl by request of his amatuer radio buddies, that maybe he was wanting to be with someone, anyone. you have to remember this girl is only well,.i think she's barely legal. and Art is  in his 60's now.  enough of that. I remember the days back about  7 years ago. I talked to Ramona online on AOL's AIM.  She was fun to talk to, talking about Art while we all listened and she Im'ed with us. To be honest  my life paralelled Arts in a sense. 1999 was the year my former wife and I split up. That was the year Art went a way for a time. I had high hopes for my marriage despite I was the one  that left. Then in 2001 he came back. I thought my marraige was going to "happen" again" but soon to my dismay she found someone else. Then Art left again this time over issues with his son again. I felt bad for him and I felt bad for myself. I thought of my little boy just barely 4 years old then.  That was around the time of WTC devistation. All these things kind of congelled or coincided with each other to me. My former wife and i loved to listen to Art every night. We would talk and enjoy the shows. So when I think of Art and is personal life i sometimes think of my past situations. I wouldn't say it was all bad or all good, Just some good memories and some painful ones. We all grow from the painful ones and we have to move on. I have and Art has, he has him a sweet little baby to enjoy now,..God bless him. haha who knows thoese that beleive in reincarnation might  beleive Ramona came back,..wouldn't that be wild?

an1okjoe..

You are  right on with all you have said.

Though I think with Art and remarrying..at first we were kind of questioning it

BUT..I believe that it is ok. I do believe he loved his wife and he morns her

still.

But we must remember life does go on. And I do not think he is or ever will forget her

or forget the time they had together.

I believe that your life is made up of blocks of time and that

you should always remember and revere your loved ones of the past.

BUt as I said you must continue your life.

I do feel that she would want him to continue on and be happy.

:)

These all sound like great responses. Art Bell God bless him. He has had a lot of bad situations in his life. First there was  in about 1999 his son was  pretty much seduced or  molested by a male teacher who happened yo have had AIDS. He went off the air for some time over this. It wasn't until about 2001 when he came back  He left again for a time , once again. This was  over issues with his son again. He later came back and stayed until his wife passed away due to asthma. This was about  hmm two years a go i suspect. She was a very pretty Filipino woman i loved to listen to before i knew who Art was. They both used to be broadcast personalities in La Vegas on KDWN 720am. Art went Satellite in about 1991 (I was working at KNZR at the time). After Art's wife passed away at this home in Parhump Nevada Art remarried. I was a bit troubled by this. It wasn't even 6mo. after Ramona had passed away.  He had went to the Philippines and met and married her. eventually he came back here. The whole time still being on the air on the weekend. Recently Art and his wife had a baby, he's retired and is not on the air anymore. The show he hosted is still in existence today. It is Cost to Coast AM, hosted by  George Noory.

Goodness, there's nothing better than wierd things happening. Ghosts, the deceast, paranormal activities, etc. etc....

There's a ghost in my grandma's house. My great grandma' would always say there was a senor in the closet, but noone believed her. Well I did cause I saw the ghost like four times, my older brother also saw it when he lived there.

You can't be afraid of that stuff when you wanna do what I wanna do.

Wow! That is a cool Story

he "retired" for awhile but is back on coast to coast...usually on the weekends

Hey...anyone used to listen to Art Bell? He may have been on KERN but I'm not sure...  He used to have a show on late night talk radio about weird stuff like paranormal activities, aliens, whatnot... I LOVED that show, man....

an1ok1joe: Thanks for the info and we will be checking it out tonight..hehe

we have a subscription so we listen to old shows as well!

I know, I blew it!! I was putting the finishing touches on the Halloween Issue of Bakotopia Magazine!! Schedule another, and let's go bustin'!! - Matt
GEPRS have completed the recent investigation!

We will posting some info on it soon so [stay tuned]

Thanks to the employee's of The "How Cool Shoppe" www.howcool.com, Downtown Bakersfield 1912 Chester Ave. for letting GEPRS invade their store and conduct the investigation.

These Folks were all so cool and we loved hanging out with them.

As we often report to our clients, unlike some paranormal investigative groups, we like to do more than one night of Investigating.

Believe it or not, a place can be very active or Haunted and you investigate it and nothing happens on one time through. But it will the next.

So we plan on keeping in contact with these awesome people.

Again we will be going over our data the next couple days and will report to you all what we discover.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

{MATT : Buddy we missed you there man}:)

Tam=GEPRS
I love it,..and that place to me. was very calm quiet and nice ,, i guess at night with a little imagination  it could become pretty scary

An1PK1Joe:

Hey I heard about the TB hospital in Keene as well.

Believe it or not my own grandfather was there for

TB when it was open. Miraculously he recovered.

GEPRS has been planning a trip to there soon

to check it out.

We will keep you all posted on our findings.

MATT my friend..hehe...are you ready for TONIGHT?!

Get ready to put on your investigator face hehe

We will see you soon my friend. heheh

Tam=GEPRS

Hey Kindra , you should have told the person in the closet ,"Shut up, yer already dead" go toward the light.
What an awesome response from you all! I love it :)

Thank you very much!

I will try to answer all your questions or respond to your posts. :) I hope I do not miss anyone and please ask any questions any time. We love to hear from you. And we are here for you with any Paranormal help you need.

Thanks Kindra79 for your story! GEPRS will have to check into that one for sure . Seems I did hear a bit about from someone before,  but nothing confirmed. And someone mentioned the closet ghost.

That seems to be a common occurence in our line of work. I actually have one my self living in my closet. We often believe that closets can be a sort of door way or Vortex.

Or there is an area for them to go or just a cool out of the way place that Entities like to hang out in.

Matt mentioned an investigation..YEP we are going on one tomorrow. Matt is the one that has helped us so graciously set this up with a client and we will be taking  our buddy Matt and a friend with us on this one.

Matt says he is very excited. hehe... We will turn him into an Honorary member of GEPRS yet. haha!

I just hope we don't make him scream like a little girl hehehe {Just kidding}

We are only taking Matt and the team this time around but we will be having future investigations in which we will include a few members of the public to tag along. :)

So watch for GEPRS future events. :)

I got to go for now ..lunch time is over at my other job hehe We will talk at you all later and we

will keep you posted on the Investigation!

{Singing} A Hunting we will go! A Hunting we will go!

Deusexmachina - yep that triggered my memory, and was the story I was told!  I wouldn't drive the far end of 7th Standard for a while and still get really creeped out when I do.  My friend and her mother said they saw her, and they aren't really the "I see ghosts" type.

My roommate keeps seeing a man in his closet and when I had the ghost hunters come to my house I guess a recorder picked up a man's voice in that room saying "kill me" - my roommate didn't know anything about this when he first told me he saw a man in his closet.  My neighbor's sister was sitting on their front porch when the house was empty (before I moved in) and was looking into the room.  She told her sister that she didn't like that room, that something was in there.  Yep, and that is why I didn't take the big front bedroom ... I like to snuggle up in my small room in the back of the house :)

I see dead people too, they are in my family's photo books  and in books hehe, ok ok i was just being ornery. I love Ghost Hunter, but i swear i'd be the one  punk'n everyone.
I love ghosty stuff!!!! I am not afraid. In fact in runs in my family blood. My tia SEEs dead people all the time. I dream them too. You would think it would scare me,but it just doesnt.
I loved the "Got milk" add with the  La Llonrona. She reaches in to get the milk out of the refrigerator and there is none. She then starts crying. It's hillarious. I don't think The La Llorona is "spanish" she's Mexican. I don't recall anyone from Spain mentioning her. It's a North American tale.
In the book Weird California it states that  the old TB asylum there in keene  by La Paz is haunted, I've been there . I decided after   dropping my son off at home in Tehachapi i'd take a look.  It's out in front of La Paz, can't miss it. You can even kinda see it coming home from Tehatch. I went down there and looked around. It's all boarded up. But was very errie. I am not spooked by spooks, I watch all the  stuff too, I DVR TAPS(Ghost Hunters) each wed. I guess you have to want to be scared or spooked to see soemthing. it's kinda like faith, if you believe then that door is open for you. I happen to think  there are ghost's i think they are  demonic entities. But it was cool the time on TAPS that  the poor guy holding the boom mic was hit hard. that was evidence soemthing was there. most of the time it's all debunked, it's rare that  anything comes of it. but hey how about  EMF what it does to a person. I've even heard of frequency counters being used as  almost like a telephone to the spirits so to speak. (better than EVP) Once aagin i think these are "familliar" spirits  knowing all that goes on around us. answering the most intimate questions supposedly only your dead loved one would know. what's even creepier is that there are angels and demons around us alll the damn time. seeing and hearing things that we do.

I wanna go with!!!

Oh wait, I'm STILL stuck in the rain!!!

waaaa!!!

we use to prowl the cemeteries @ night....  not sure if we saw/heard ghosts OR if it was the JD "speakin" to us

;-)

Ghost Hunt?....I have ESPN...I want to go TOOOOOO!!!!!!  Or is it for special peeps with paranormalities....lol...

AND ONE QUESTION:  WHERE IS THE MOST HAUNTED PLACE IN BAKERSFIELD BECAUSE I WANT TO GO THERE....There used to be this house North of County line road between Delano and Earlimart- a huge white deserted farm house in a dark field.  And we used to go out there, afraid to go in.....because of what we might find.  Helter Skelter was written in red spray paint on the wall....and we would sit outside in our cars with our headlights on and drink a bunch of Bartles N James to get our Liquid courage to do it...

Anyway, I'm a fright junkie and loved that show on MTV, FEAR, and TAPS and anything else on TV that shows evidence of scary stuff....I was just wondering if Bakersfield had such a place with a reputation...  I heard the Fox Theater is haunted....

We're going on a ghost hunt Thursday night....mwahahahaaaaaa!!

HA!!  I LOVE THIS...ok....this is the REAL LA LLORONA - She was a party animal and promiscuous.  She went out every night and left her two children home with her mother (She was never married and had 2 children out of wedlock)....She treated her mother badly and demanded to be taken care of when she returned home late at night drunk - making her mother prepare her food.  She also never took care of her kids even when she was home  (abusive verbally and physically and so were her 'boyfriends')- her mother took care of the kids...so one night, when the woman was out partying her ass off, the mother was left home with the kids and the mother just LOST it and killed the children.  She then chopped them up and cooked them in a soup.   And when the woman came home drunk and demanded that she be fed, her mother did as instructed.  And when she asked where the children were, the mother replied, "Usted los come" or "you are eating them.." or something like that......ANYWAY...she freaked out and grabbed a knife off the counter where her mother had been cooking and slit her own throat.....(This all happened in SHAFTER by the way) so La LLORONA wanders 7TH STANDARD ROAD late at night....crying.....asking people who stop when they see her white figure wandering the road...."where are my children???"......

Just thinking about it CREEPS ME OUT....

Everything but the luring to water part sounds like the white lady of 7th Standard that a friend of mine actually told me about once.
